Monthly TBR: November

Third time’s the charm, no?

This month’s TBR includes most of the unread books from September and October’s TBR. I decided last month that my remaining 2019 TBRs would consist mainly of books from previous TBRs that I didn’t finish.

October was a much more successful reading month than either August or September, However, I decided to prioritize the books I checked out from the library because they actually had to be returned. I am still learning how to maximize my time for blogging. Fortunately, I managed to free up my Friday mornings by changing my internship schedule. So now, I get to sleep in a bit AND still blog!

Out of the fifty-three books on my official TBR as of October, I have read thirty.-one. Since I am planning on finish Soul Screamers by Rachel Vincent in November anyway, I decided to continue my Series Challenge with a new series. (Hint: It’s a series that has been on my list previously but not featured as a Series Challenge.)

Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin

I, like all of the bookternet, has heard the hype behind this book from the moment the cover was announced. The concept of an arrange marriage between two unlikely partners who are basically mortal enemies is inherently tied to conflict and some undoubtedly hilarious moments. (You are free to blame my increasing consumption of fanfic for this and you would be right.) I am both ready and not, mainly because I know I’ll want the sequel immediately.

American Royals by Katharine McGee

Scandals in Washington D.C. are already interesting enough when you consider our presidential system (eg. Scandal, Hamilton, All-American Girl). The moment I saw that this was an alternate history in which the U.S. is ruled under a monarch, I knew I wanted to read it. Navigating social etiquette is bound to result in some drama!

The Into the Crooked Place by Alexandra Christo

Multiple character’s lives intersecting. Dark magic. Thievery. Saving the world. These are some of my favorite things and I’m excited to see what Christo does with this duology!

The Soul Screamers by Rachel Vincent

While I picked this series as my September series, I have not been able to finish due to work and prioritizing library books. However, it is still an enjoyable series that I desperately wish to return to. Third time’s the charm!

The Rise of the Empress Series by Julie C. Dao

This book has been on my TBR for a few months now. One of my favorite series also explores how a villain is made and the cost of ambition, which is what grabbed my attention about this title. With the release of the upcoming companion novel, Song of the Crimson Flower, I figured now was a good time to start the series.

It will be a fantastical month if I actually manage to read all the books on this list. It’s a good thing miracles happen around the holiday season.

What’s on your TBR this month? If you don’t create TBR lists, what book that you recently bought or checked out are you most excited to read?
